Build Your Own Logic Model

Now that you have had the chance to familiarize yourself with different components of the logic model, we will walk you through the steps of building your own. We will use the CYFAR Logic Model Template for this process. When developing your logic model, it is important to establish and maintain a focus on results rather than on activities. Logic models help program professionals, evaluators, and stakeholders reach consensus about which elements are essential to the program. Consequently, program professionals and researchers are more able to identify faulty or implausible links early on.

The logic model includes five elements:

  • Identified needs and assets
  • Desired results (short- and long-term)
  • Indicators (short- and long-term)
  • Activities
  • Resources

The online logic model builder allows you to type in your responses to each of the five elements listed above and generate a printable document at the end.
