Professional development opportunities benefit staff and improve the overall program. Such opportunities ensure that staff members are up-to-date on current practices in their field and continue to feel invested in their jobs.
Below are six domains for professional development identified by a team of individuals within the Cooperative Extension System for 4-H / youth workers in 2017. The domains include Youth Development; Youth Program Development; Volunteerism; Access, Equity, and Opportunity; Partnerships; and Organizational Systems. These domains frame a set of skills and competencies that help guide 4-H professionals in determining where they may need to find additional training and support management staff in identifying and creating professional development training.
