What Is Data Analysis?

Data analysis is the process of systematically examining data with the purpose of spotlighting useful information. Data analysis is the foundation of scientific research. Conducting a complete analysis of the data you have collected will enable you to

  • Determine the impact of your work
  • Assess the quality of your programming
  • Communicate results to your stakeholders


Types of Research Designs: You can review various research designs in Module Three.

Module Three explained the three broad types of research designs ranging from true experimental to non-experimental. The research design you choose should align with the purpose of your research or evaluation and the type of data you want to collect. The next section will review the two types of data you might collect.
